Neighborhood Meet and Creep

What do you get when you mix together 175 kids in costume, a fire truck, a DJ, a calf, 7,000 orange and black cupcakes, and a woman with snakes in her hair?

That’s right!  A neighborhood Halloween party!  The woman with snakes in her hair is Janet, AKA Medusa, and she has been organizing and throwing this party in front of her house for the last nine years.   We look forward to this party so much it is ridiculous, and this year Janet and her crew of Halloween elves outdid themselves.

There is a costume contest and a ton of games (and two tons of prizes—besides actual real prizes, we all save our Happy Meal toys and abandoned stuffed animals etc. and donate them to Janet in October):

There’s a hay ride pulled by our neighbor, Farmer Smith, and his tractor  (Farmer Smith also brought along his calf for us to pet, but I didn’t get a picture!):

There are aliens, princesses, creepy skeletons, and kitties boogie-ing down to the awesome DJ:

New this year was a candy scramble.  The candy was dropped from up there…

Everyone donates cupcakes, cookies, Rice Krispie Treats…

This teen made balloon hats for two hours (the neighborhood teens helped with the games):

Everyone’s favorite is the Haunted Tunnel in Janet’s garage.  According to my kids, it is super scary.  I am too scared to go inside, so please enjoy this picture of Rob, Janet’s husband, manning the tunnel entrance, and the back end of a very brave princess:

Also new this year was a train!  The kids loooooved this!

(And so did the moms!)

Fun was had by all.  Thanks, Janet and Rob, for a creeperific afternoon!

P.S.-As an added bonus, since I got an overwhelming request for pictures of Dave and me as Pauly D and Snooki (Deb, I’m looking at you), here is a picture of our tanned and slummed down selves:

I’m thinking of slowly working sequins, bronzer, and dinner plate sized earrings into my regular, dull routine.  Let me know what you think…

Uh, no, I'm looking at YOU! You make a great trampy, clueless cheese ball. And I mean that in the best way possible.
