We carved our pumpkins after school today! It’s a lot of fun, but I’ll admit I’m glad it only happens once a year.
Time to get creative:
Then I carve out the lid. Here’s Jack’s first look at what’s inside: EWWWW!
Time to dig out the guts! (Ben doesn’t help with this part…he won’t admit it, but I think he’s really grossed out by the smell and look of the inside of the pumpkin).
Then I carve the faces they drew. Here’s the final product:
We roasted the pumpkin seeds with olive oil and sea salt and snacked on them all night. That’s my favorite part of pumpkin carving!
Happy Halloween!

I don't care for the guts myself, but everyone in the family has to do a scoop or two (with really two being it for the girls and Daddy doing the rest!) We won't carve ours until Friday or Saturday. It has been so hot here that they will just collapse. Gross... You have some talented carvers there!!!
I miss those times with my kids...now that they are all grown. I love the seed part of the "guts" myself! Delish!
I have a post coming on Oct 29th showing grown-up children carving pumpkins. Hopefullly, the tradition will live on and on for your little ones as well.
